Welcome to LODAP!

LODAP represents  Living Organ Donor Advocate Program.

You have arrived at this website because of your interest or involvement in Living Organ Donation. LODAP believes every Living Organ Donor should be supported in their physical, emotional, psychological, financial and spiritual needs. While the financial aspects of LODAP are limited due to its recent formation, those at LODAP will advocate in behalf of the Living Organ Donor. The intention of this website is to assist the Living Organ Donor and provide insight of Living Organ Donor needs to support persons, recipients, the medical community, transplant organizations, government agencies and legislators. The purpose of LODAP is to advocate for the Living Organ Donor so living donation does not result in a lesser quality of life for the Living Organ Donor.

LODAP would like to commend Living Organ Donors for their courageous decision to consider giving another person a better quality of life through living organ donation. Living Organ Donation or even the consideration of Living Organ Donation is not an easy decision, there are very many factors that need to be considered before donating. Even though you might not qualify as a donor, such as not being a suitable match or health reasons, you have given so much to the recipient already. You have given them hope during a time in thei life when little hope existed.

While Living Organ Donation is a commitment to better the health of the recipient, the Living Organ Donor should make the same commitment to their own health. Many times the focus is placed on the recipient because the recipient is an unhealthy person. The emotional, psychological, spiritual, financial and physical needs of the recipient are evident by their illness. The Living Organ Donor is viewed as a healthy person with minimal needs. It is not uncommon for the medical community, support persons and even the Living Donor to place their own physical, emotional, psychological, financial and spiritual needs in the background. Everyone, including the Living Organ Donor, must realize the health of two people are involved in Living Organ Donation and one must not override the other.

Whether you are considering donating, are in the process or have donated, we hope this website provides valuable information and insight related to your organ donation.
